SS brake lines

Those of you who have installed braided brake & clutch lines, where did you get them? I called both spiegler & galfer & they said they don't make kits for 2012 concours. Did you have to measure & have them custom made???

I got mine from Galpher, they make a full kit for the C14... Not sure why they are telling you they don't, maybe they quit making them or maybe they are getting hung up on that it's a 2012, but if you see the link below they make a kit for the 2011 which would be the exact same, so maybe they just haven't updated their catalog to also list the 2012, 2013, 2014, etc...

am I crazy, or are the C14 hydraulic lines not modern construction, I.e., teflon internal, ss braid, and polymer exterior?
Buehler? Buehler?

these ain't C10 lines... they should be lasting at least ten years...
somewhers something is getting lost, maybe my mind, but these lines don't need replacing this soon...
you would have to have owned a C10 to understand what I'm saying, and then... how often should you change a galfer or speigler line??? well?
Beuhler? Beuhler?,,,,

just saying.

these OEM lines are superior to old tech.

       I admit I've had no trouble from my OEM brake lines! :great:

I do however want to change them out in a few  years because I REALLY like the looks of SS braided! >:D

I think for a sportbike it also shows alot of pride of ownership! ;D

I had to change my lines because of the four inch risers, so I went SS. Otherwise I wouldn't have. The rear is still OEM. I know Jay, they don't match! Sorry....

In my case,  PE handlebars required longer lines.

If so, that would be the first time I've ever heard that, when I removed mine they didn't appear to be, but mines an 09 so maybe that changed on the Gen 2 models...  ???

Mine is an 08 and the lines did not seem to be braided. I found a big improvement getting rid of them and going to SS lines.
I  would have liked to have cut open the old ones to verify if they were indeed  braided. The look and feel of them was very much like the old C10 lines.
I did feel SSIF's brake lever and found it have very little expansion. My original lines  did not feel as good as his  stockers   but then again mine was much older , hence the change to SS lines.
Normally aspirated engines have perpetual turbo lag

   I didn't say they are anything... i said what they appear to be. OTOH, you stated that there is a difference, in that the braided steel lines have less expansion. so my question to you is about the construction of the stock lines... not what I/i] think they are, the question is  what you think they are  ;)  Steve

I may have to revise my answer, which was made from the couch last night...
after actually looking ccloser, there is a combo of lines...
rear appears to be rubber, but stiff as hall.
front from the M/C to the block is for sure a new style teflon inner, but from the block down its covered in a rubber sleeve, so I can't say without removing the line and cutting the sleeve.
clutch is rubber to block, but after that I can't tell....

sorry.

they are still better than C10 was, and should last a long time .

Correct, I said they appear to be, the ones on my 12 sure look braided up by the bars.

 but let's keep something in mind Cuda... I'm asking to learn from someone who seemed to know the answer. I don't know everything about the bike, I am always trying to learn. It will take any one of us years to learn all the nuances and quirks about the model, as parts break and new parts / proceedures to repair develop. I'm not holding myself out as an expert, I just know more than you.  :nananana:  Steve

  edit - OK reporting back... looks like I had myself discombobulated, there's a different type hose on the topside of the 08 that looks braided in a sheath, but the bottoms are rubber style hoses. My 12 had rubber style hoses, not braided . I was working on the 08 and saw the hose by the bars, and was surprised to see what appeared to be braided. So there ya go, I'm not an expert, don't listen to me... but I still know more than Cuda  :rotflmao:   Steve

Ordered a set today from Galfer. You have to say they are for a GTR1400. Thats how they have them listed. $254.00 full set with extra 1 ½ inch on front brake and clutch.

Thanks Deepsea, I'll do that. What I mainly wanted them for is the extra length for my risers, originals are a little tighter than I'm comfortable with.
