tpms battery questions

Got the batteries yesterday... Packaged in a 21"w x 8"h x 4"D box! Crazy size box for 6 nickel size batteries.
No wonder shipping is more than the cost of them. Federal regulations must be quite over the top imo.

Will check my manual again Freddy... thanks for the obvious over site from me!

I received mine in a huge box like that too.  Packed with all sorts of paper and plastic. Seemed a bit over kill for sure. It was like an Easter Egg hunt trying to find the little batteries packed in all stuff.

Hi Berk- For those of us living in S. Fla. you can have just your TPS batteries replaced professionally, very reasonable and quick by Miami Cycles (Mike) 305-454-9197. He did mine perfectly and can do yours start to finish if you have replaceable batteries like my 2010 C-14 or similar. His shop is in N.Miami, Fl.

Fred Harmon in Fort Worth area, Texas is still doing replacement battery installs too. Quick turn around and he has the good batteries there.

Well I got the correct batteries and gave them to the shop where I had new tires put on. Was excited to get rid of the flashing dash board! The mechanic said thes batteries couldn't be changed. Told him they do it all the time. Anyways he couldn’t do it. So I guess I’ll wait till winter and get the sensors out and send them out to be done. I have 6 batteries if any one needs a few.

What year bike? Are the valve stems round or hexed?

Changing the batteries in the TMPS is not a dealer function as the sensors were made to be throw away. An enterprising COG member figured out the batteries could be changed with a little bit of work. I don't know of any successful battery change on the new style sensor.As mentioned the old style sensors have round stems. The new style stem can take a wrench. The new style barriers are potted so gaining access to just the battery is problematic.

There are a couple of COG guys who can do this work to the old style sensor. I am going to contact Fred Harmon when I ready to have the batteries changed. Fred can test them for function before sending them back out. But like I said there are others able to do this as well.

If you can solder, there are instructions on how to change the battery by searching the forum.
