I find I get my best gas mileage when I follow the shifting instructions per the owner's manual.
Not much fun nor very good when comparing acceleration with Mustangs and such.

I've never gotten better than 38 mpg. This is probably why.

From a standing start; with the left foot press the gear shifter down. Gently?? release the clutch while applying lots of throttle, when the engine screams pull up on the shifter with your foot, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat. Now repeat after me.

 But officer I was practicing my shifting. :??:
