Who has the Pit Bull trailer restraint system for their C14?
« on: March 29, 2017, 11:12:05 pm »
I'm curious because I cant find any pictures via google ::)

I have  a relatively short trailer at only 10 foot and I'm wondering what kind of clearance I would have with the arm on the bike positioned forward instead of behind the rear wheel.

I had the second one they made, there's a thread on here somewhere from last summer. I decided I didn't want it and sent it back. Not that it was bad, the other poster in that thread loved it. I just changed my mind.

It's here  http://www.pit-bull.com/product/F0075KG-000.html

I never took any. I set it all up so I could see how  it  would work, then after studying it, decided not to mount it. PM sent with details.

If someone has a pic of the right side mounted up I'd be interested to see.  Pitbull does not... ::)

I do.  Used it from Indianapolis to South Dakota and back.  Wonderful (and expensive) system.  I don't have a picture of the side.  I can get on tomorrow.  But can't show you it actually hooked into the floor fixture because the toy hauler is filled with junk at the moment.  But I can put the piece that attaches to the bike.  Also remember that you can have it so the unit mounts between the front and back tires, so that wouldn't add any length to your installation.  PM your email address and I'll get you high def pictures.  Otherwise I'll just post the thumbnails here on the thread.

Send the PM shortly.

My trailer is a 10 footer and my comfort level would be better if it the mount itself was between the tires, more centered and not so far back.

A big curiosity was/is if theres enough clearance with the arm mounted up while riding up the ramp .

I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy the mount, but would be beneficial to see more detail.  Not sure why pitbull is scarce on the pix.

I'm looking into the same product for my connie as well as my hayabusa.  Have a toy hauler with 11' garage they're going in.  would be interested in seeing the pics as well.

This is part of it,, but not every thing

You can ride up the trailer as seen in the pic. the restraint has a strap to hold it up

Between the tires, yes.

Here's why.  Theres tie downs in the back that I'm not willing to move and I'm not comfy with the mount being that far back on the deck of this trailer.

I have had the Pitbull trailer restraint for 4 bikes that I've owned. While I don't have one for the Connie because I won't be bringing it to a trackday I can assure you that I would have zero problem with mounting the restraint plate behind those tie downs... It is such a great, solid system  to trailer a bike you'll be ver happy you bought it.

Appreciate the insight on it.  Theres a couple of reasons I'm going to put it between the tires based on what I've seen and my trailer.  The main one is the mount would be over a welded section of the trailer deck or between two of those sections. And, I will be able to reach the arm while seated.  I don't think I can reach it if its behind the wheel.

I'll probably get the mount in next week and I'll do a mockup when It gets here and see how everything is going to fit.

Looking forward to having a strap-free mount option for sure.  I'll be testing it on a trip to Arkansas in May.

Sweet look forward to your pics,,
One good thing do do is always over engineer any prodject. I would add extra plates for bolting thru the trailers deck .

I have some aluminum strips that I used on the tiedown points, to put under the deck.

Problem is I dont know if the bolts they provide are long enough to use those.

I'll find out tomorrow. I think the first box shows up with parts.

Most likely.  I like to us a backing under the deck on this trailer and its not real thick aluminum strips.

The pin that goes on the left side of the arm and the nut that replaces the factory one arrived today.

Since pix are so hard to find of the C14 restraint system I thought I would post a picture of the axle nut I've heard about here in this thread.

This is a big hunk of metal.  I cant imagine it not being capable of doing the job. Its 3.2 oz on my scale. :great:

ETA: correct frame mount comes in Friday. I should have it installed by the end of the weekend if it does not rain much.

Well, I got the whole kit in yesterday, but Revzilla sent me the standard frame instead of the wide frame, so I cant start mounting it up.  It'
ll be a bit of a delay until I can post good pictures of it.

Right now I'm sort of fighting with revzilla about it. The guy/tech I'm talking to does not seem to understand the WIDE frame goes with the C14, not the standard one.  Theres even a picture of the wide-frame on the pit bull website.   But, they also show the WRONG one on pit bull.com. So its causing some confusion.

So hopefully thats resolved ASAP and they send me the correct frame so I can mount it up.  I wanted to have this done this weekend, but it'll likely be next-week now.

No, not really.  It was based more on my personal history using Pit bull products in the past.

I got the correct frame and I'm hoping to start mounting it up soon.  I need to measure things to make sure I dont screw up the positioning :D  My trailer is short so I have limited room where the fender gets close to the front rail on my trailer.
