Windshield loose
« on: April 18, 2015, 12:43:25 am »
Hard to explain without pics but I will try. One of the two arms that the windshield attaches to is loose like it has come loose/off/unattached on the inside. Any way to fix this without replacing the entire mechanism?
 Thanks

Yes, take it to the dealer under warranty.

Same thing happened to my FJR1300; fixed under warranty.

Upon investigating this issue I have found the reason for the loose windshield. I think the giant aftermarket windshield that was on the bike is at least partially to blame because that thing caught a lot of air and moved around a lot when driving on windy days. I think I have to replace the entire mechanism because I don't think I can buy just the arm, hopefully I'm wrong about that.
The little tab on the arm that the windshield mounts to has broken off.

The part in red is what has broken off.

Can you dismantle it and get it welded up?

Not sure until I tear it down and get a closer look. That would save a lot of money if I can get it welded. I put the stock windshield on and its not really a problem with it on. I will fix it (soon) just not right away. Thanks
