Windshield Quit Working
« on: June 30, 2020, 12:50:55 am »
Damn it, worked fine last time I rode. Get on it tonight and nothing. Fuse is good and I hear a relay clicking when I press the up and down but it does nothing. Any ideas? 2011 C14

Thanks

Found these YT videos not too long ago. Here's some copy/paste text...

watch the re assembly sequence FIRST; it will give you the reasoning, and what really it takes to pull the assembly out in a simpler manner

Basically assembly/motor needs cleaning and greasing. Hope this helps!

Mine got balky a few months back so I pulled up on it at start up and got it to move. It started working so I didn't mess with it anymore.

I was having problems with the windshield not moving on my 2011. I cleaned and re-lubed the tracks where the components slide and it has been fine ever since.  To clean and re-lube you only need to remove the front cover. I remember going out of my way to find grease that is compatible with the plastic tracks. I believe I used synthetic grease from Super Lube.  I probably need to do this again!

i believe the proper lube on the plastic track is silicone paste. There is another grease point that uses actual grease. Been a long time since I did it I can't remember where that is but it is in the manual.

Took windshield and cover off tonight. One of the windshield bolt heads stripped so I had to drill it out. After I got everything off the mechanism worked fine. Ordered 2 new bolts and washers. Will grease mechanism probably with lithium grease. On another note, I sold it tonight.

The windshield or the C14?  Either case what’s next?

The windscreen on my 16MY had covid19 for about a week. Then it cleared and worked fine ever since. I haven't tested it for antibodies, though.

Yes, to both. Sold the bike and the windshield together.   :)  Not sure what's next. The Concours is a great bike and I will probably regret selling it.
