I had a cat scratch my black concours and took rubbing compound and it buffed out I was just very careful with buffer so not to eat through the paint.

That looks pretty deep... down into the primer at least, possibly into the plastic. You might try careful use of a mild cutting compound, followed by machine polishes. That will take the "edge" off of the scratches and minimize their prominence. But you will still essentially have well-polished primer showing through. If you are sanding, you are IMO repainting. The ColorRite products match very well, and they have very good prep kits. I'd try to sand out the scratches, prep as directed, then re-spray, feathering out to the factory paint. Then clear coat. Then wait 3 - 5 days for it to cure...

Or ride it all summer like that and take the part to a paint shop over the winter recess. Unless you don't get a proper winter...

Dropped my bike some month or so ago, first time out with passenger, and it was scratched on a couple places and had just purchased some items from Summit Racing and in their pkg. was a sheet of decals, large and small.  After some studying figured those scratch places were just ideal to put on some of their decals, looks fine.  Just a thought.

Thanks for the advice.  I thought of decals but still would not cover all the scratches.  Going to sand and paint....
