Putting the Gen 1 tank "glove box" on a Gen 2 will unfortunately is not a plug and play type of installation. Under the black cover on the Gen 2's the mounting brackets are different so the gen 1 glove box won't fit. Which is unfortunate. It seems to me there is also something under the blank plate on the gen 2 which could need attention once in awhile. I can see where a Gen 1 tank box would be quite handy.

This was discussed some time back and a search might come up with something. As I recall a member was successful on installing one on his Gen 2 but was a royal pain in the ... neck.

I know someone did this mod to mine.  I have a 2010 with a tank box.   It looked like all they had to do was move the relays to inside the left faring and then add a spacer under the front mounting bolt that is maybe an inch thick.   I am not sure what they did for the mounting bracket further back since I have never seen the non modded way.

I think its an awesome idea. I wonder why Kawasaki thought it was a good idea to stop putting that compartment on.

I installed one on my 2014.  I got the plastics used and had to buy the bracket for the rear two screws.

You have to relocate the relays off the stock bracket, I just moved them all off to the left side and zip tied them.

I didn't raise the front but instead used a dremel to remove some of the plastic from the bottom front left where the brake line was contacting the base.

I also bent the rear mounting bracket down 1/16" to 1/8" at the ends so the base would fit closer to the tank, and bent the brake line down slightly where it contacted the front of the base so I wouldn't have to cut away as much plastic opening up to the inside of the compartment.

I have never looked at how well a 08 or 09 fits but I'm going to guess that the job I did fits very close.

Turbo- do you have any pics of the compartment on your tank? From the side?

Keep in mind that if you have or plan to use a lock ring tank bag it will not work with the early model storage compartment. I removed mine & made a flat cover for this very reason.

I'll see if I can get a picture and post it tomorrow.
