$52 of gas in my connie
« on: November 04, 2011, 09:11:07 am »
Just thought I'd share this with you guys over the pond! Just filled up my connie and it cost around $52!!!! No I don't have extra tanks, just the standard one, although it had just gone onto reserve.

The as I rode off, muttering to myself about how the world has gone mad, I realised it was a beautiful autumn day, sweeping thru nice bends and knocking off a couple of quick overtakes, and I thought "This is still worth it!".

It's about £6.22 per gallon (UK gallon) which converts to around $9.97. When it hits $10 a gallon I'll start a fuel fund (all donations via paypal)

Strange how that works.  About a year and a half ago I was vacationing in Barbadous and notice the price per liter was about $1.00. That of course worked out to about $4.00 a gallon not much more than what I was paying back in the states at the time.  I figured Barbadous would've been more similair to Europe especially since it was a British colony not too long ago.

That's the problem, all the bloody ex-colonies are doing better than us!! In the UK the bulk of the cost is taxation, amd most small gas stations are out of business as the big players often sell at cost to pull customers into their stores.

That's incredible.  I'm hereby no longer complaining about the $20 I've been putting in mine.

Now, if I could just forget about the $12 it used to be.  :(

It was only about 10 years ago or so that gas was below $1 per gallon! That would be about $7 for a full tank.  >:(

A life time ago, i had a FZR600, and an Exxon gas card.  I got called by Exxon becuase they were concerned with possible fraud.  It seems there were 3-4$ charges every day or two on my gas card and they were worried someone had stolen my card.  LOL  that was all it took to fill the gas tank.  I was commuting on it and would fill it up every day or two.

3-4$???????????

According to Fuelly.com my Connie eats 16.98 per fillup (average over the last 4 months).  And yup, still worth it. Don't ride for mileage, i ride to ride.

You can get regular up here (GWN) for about $1.20 per liter (about $4.60 per US Gallon).

Incidentally, that's about $423.60 should you fill up by the Hogshead.

Youngsters all.....  I remember one of our family vacations during the summer of '68, filling up in the Tucson area for 4 cents per gallon & the station across the street was 5 cents per gallon....   :'(   One of my first street bikes, a CL175, could be filled up for 75 cents in '72 IIRC.

It usually costs me only $12 to fill my tank, but then I don't let it get to "E" before filling up.  :)
