NEW oils
« on: November 05, 2011, 09:50:54 am »
I know energy conserving is bad for bikes. Now they seem to call it resource conserving. Royal Purple's new line @ aUTOZONE & OTHER FINE STORES ALL HAVE "RESOURCE CONSERVING" ON THEM WHICH i BELIEVE THAT MAKES THEM UNABLE TO BE USED IN OUR BIKES. iS THAT CORRECT??

"Resource Conserving" sounds more like it is reclaimed/recycled oil.  (I don't know, that's just what it sounds like to me.)

I'm with Outback Jon, That sounds like it has reclaimed/recycled oil in it like the new Valvoline
NextGen oils you see advertised. It will be interesting to see what additives are put into them
and see if they are okay for motorcycle use.

Resource conserving is the new energy conserving. Its part of the API approval of the new SN rating that is updating/replacing the SM rating, approved in 2010 and being intruduced into the market in late 2010 and 2011.

Where energy conserving was only about increasing fuel ecenomy by adding the modifiers, resource conserving is about increasing fuel economy by adding the modifiers and also reducing catalytic converter failures by reducing the amount of ZDDP in the oil.
