[sniffle] my old bike showed up on craigslist! [sniffle]
« on: November 15, 2012, 08:33:10 pm »
What do you do when your old motorcycle shows up on craigslist?
And it's obvious the new owner has no idea the amount of customization and work you put into it?  Makes me sad, I really miss that machine.  I was emotionally attached to it.  LOTS of good stuff done to that bike, from rotors to seals to wheel bearings to the back rack and custom lowered foot pegs and lots of Murphs gizmos and parts.  Part of me wants to find a new buyer for it just so I can make sure she's taken care of and appreciated, but I'm smarter than that.  :)

FYI - I used to be very active on this forum until the site got rebuilt and I lost all my history.  I'm no newbie here.  ;)

Well then,,, Welcome back! We missed you (I think  :nananana: )
<--- is there any mechanism in place to deal with a non- productive, antagonistic, former non- member such as this?

I think I made about 35,000 memories on that bike.
...still keep thinking of all the stuff I did to that bike.  Wow.

Seems someone doesn't know what year it is. The '95 was luminous vintage red - more of a wineberry color. That color in the photo appears to be candy amaranth red which was used on the '99's. or was the bodywork changed?

It used to be.  I repainted it.  And no, it wasn't dropped.  :)
That new color is Scion Black Currant Metallic.  I posted pics on the forum a couple years back.  It looked goooooooooood.

Welcome home Steve.  Yeah, that's a nice ride.  I can see why you're proud and a little misty over her.  But I agree, just snap her back and live all those memories over again.  Life's too short to cry about it buddy.

Are you riding anything right now?

I saw my old Connie came up on craigslist a few weeks back and a few years prior to that.  It was nice to see the old girl is still kicking.  Like you, I was sad the current owner probably has no idea how much work I put into that old bike.  That makes at least five owners for that bike now, two since me.  :o

If you're close enough you'd better go over and say hello before it sells. Or better yet, buy the girl back and go on a long get re-acquainted ride. You could always use that Bogart line from Cassablanca...

I sold my Vulcan and bought my C10.  About 2 years later saw the Vulk on CL as well.  Had no desire to go back to it though.   :motonoises:

As much as I'd love to have her back, I just can't.  No money, no room in the garage and my high school kids' car is broken down so that's first.
I sold the ZG to help pay for a 2003 ST1300 and to be honest it's pretty boring compared to the ZG.  It lacks the character the Concours has.  I regretted the change to the ST for about 9 months until I finally made the ST 'mine' with some customizations and I'm finally comfortable with it.  Still miss that ZG though.

When I sold my KZ I asked the guy who bought it to let me know if he ever decided to sell it . He called me about 3 years later ready to sell but I didn't have the cash . I'm sure we all have those vehicles we wish we never sold . Hell....that's about every car ,truck or bike I've ever had ...lol .
