2006 Concourse
« on: February 09, 2015, 10:12:45 pm »
I just bought a 2006 concourse. I don't have an owners manual so I don't know where to check the oil level. Is there a dipstick or window?

W E L C O M E   A B O A R D ! ! ! ! !   (Join COG)

Yes - there is a glass window on the left side, behind the shift lever.  Bike MUST be on the center stand to get a proper reading.

You can order a Factory Service Manual in PDF format from many sources (ebay) - plus there is the Clymer's Manual (I own 2, one clean and one dirty).

You have now entered into the world of massive support and friendship.  Feel free to search the forum, ask questions, and be prepared for us to spend your money.  There is a recent 'Sticky' regarding new owners.  Many opinions will be forwarded your way but the common thread is to perform a Hydrolock Test, and to send your Carbs to SiSF for a proper rebuild (meaning overflow tubes, etc.)

Hold On!!!   It's a great ride..........................

2006 is the fastest color. Believe me cuz I'm an expert in my opinion.

Welcome aboard alex9078! The Concours is a great machine, with just a couple of items that you should address if you intend on keeping her for a while.

Cheers,
Randy

Let the bike sit awhile on the centerstand before checking that sightglass . it takes awhile for it to settle to the right level .

I'm an 06 owner. Really been blessed with all the patient help from experienced owners here. I've already posted a few "idot" statements and people are still nice and helping me (couldn't find the off switch for my fuel shut off, then couldn't find the air valve for my front shocks). I'm sure I still have a few more foolish questions before I'm done. Welcome aboard !!!
