ACF-50 Anti Corrosion Treatment
« on: January 17, 2018, 01:53:27 am »
Has anyone tried this stuff? Might be useful on our older bikes, particularly here in Calcium Chloride territory.

You spray this everywhere you think salt is going to attack?

I have long been using your regular old spray chain wax used for motorcycle chains. At the end of fall I will wash and dry my bike, then spray a coat of chain wax on the underside of the bike, engine sides and wherever I think road salt may attack. You always miss spots. Salt gets in everywhere.

I think the cheapo chain sprays are better because they have poor ingredients and seem to become waxy and hard in the cold-- which is my goal.

I posted about this stuff sometime last year. I have been using this
on snow mobiles for about 2 years. It seems to work. It's not making
the bikes any newer, they just don't look any older come springtime.

I have been using it for years. Learned about it when I use to fly gliders. Use it on my electrical connections and in areas I want to keep from corroding. Even wipe my tools down with it.

I was an aircraft mechanic back when ACF50 first came on the market, and we all expressed doubts about it and figured it was just some new flavor of snake oil.  However, everybody who used it in their small aircraft and also a lot of people I knew who used it in their boats started to swear by it.  I don't use it myself but then all my stuff is already corroded to hell and back.

Google "ACF50 reviews" and you will see mostly positive results.

Here's an interesting test:

Nosmo, is it better than my chain wax spray?

Uhh...well....hhmmm...dunno.

But if you go to their website and read all about it, according to them, it's good for cold sores, old sores, sore a******* and makes child-birth a pleasure.  It is supposed to chemically bond with the metal and quite possibly transmute lead into gold.

Ya, all that and it's not as messie. I use it on the trailer hitch.
No rust, no muss and the snow doesn't seem to freeze in there.
