Another newbie question :)
« on: April 20, 2016, 11:30:04 pm »
Took out my plugs to check them, and number one, was dark and oily, and smelled like gas... the other 3 were dry as a bone. What would cause this, and how can I fix it.

Thanks,
Joe

Easy option first. From what you have said I would think it's not firing on
that cylinder. Easiest way to tell is from a cold start, start the engine and
feel the exhaust header. You should be able to keep your fingers on the
pipe for a minute or so. If it's firing it will get hot just like the others. If it
doesn't get hot pull the plug wire (cap) put a good plug in and start the engine.
Watch for a nice blue spark. If not lay the plug on the cylinder head it needs
to be grounded. Still no spark fix coil or plug wire.
Keep us posted.
