Brake upgrade project on my 86.....DONE!!!
« on: July 20, 2011, 11:31:36 pm »
I have posted stuff a while back on this, and now the project is finally done. I am so excited to finally have connie out of the shop and back on the road I can hardly stand it :))

This all started cause I had bad pulsing in the front brakes due to warped rotors. I decided to go new, but also to upgrade both the size of the rotors, and also go to the 4 pot calipers. No problem. . . . .

All I had to do was design some new caliper mounts to go with the 4 pots and 320mm floating rotors. The stock rotors are 270mm non floaters. To keep a really long story short, the mounts are finally done and everything is back together. I did a short test ride today just to start bedding in the new pads. Even with fresh parts, I can tell the new brakes are gonna be awesome.

If anyone is interested in the progress photos, here's a link to see em.  http://community.webshots.com/album/580581620UuEehi

I kinda doubt it would be all that popular. It takes someone willing to spend some money, find and have some simple milling done on the 4 pot calipers, buy the new 320mm rotors, and then mount it all up. The line forms to left. ;)
