Cam timing adjustor plate?
« on: June 02, 2019, 04:22:33 pm »
I bought some parts last year from eBay and the seller also had this item (see photo). I assumed it was an exhaust cam timing advancer. Price was low, so I bought it. Now I need to figure out what it is for sure. The seller says it was on a 2002 Concours ZG1000 and called it a timing plate. The part has VHR stamped on it and a mark (timing mark?) along the outer edge. I haven't had much luck googling it, but I found something that looks similar that advanced the exhaust cam 4 degrees. VHR made cams and valve train parts for motorcycles at one time. Anyone seen this part before?

Ignition timing plate that does indeed advance the timing 4 degrees.

just to clarify, it's an "ignition timing plate", not a "cam timing plate".... it's installed down on the bottom, where the ignition pulse is sensed by the pickup coils...

see below...

I'd caution you about installing it unless you have the data sheet on it, explaining how much advance "change" it does...
there should be a number "stamped" on the actual plate, along with similar markings to what is shown on the stock OEM plate

I found one on the "net", but there is no way to tell which engine it goes with... by the p/n on the package...

I can't find anything on the V&H website, you will have to call and get data.

Since it seems that the info is lacking, this is one item you should just put it back in the box C10 parts and forget about.
