clock shuts off and resets with key
« on: April 04, 2012, 10:37:49 pm »
So my clock resets back to 1:00 when I turn the key off. This just happened recently as I took the bike apart to change the dash bulbs. Any suggestions?

Accessory fuse.  The one that is mounted on top of the J-box.

But you might want to find out what caused it to blow.

Yep, that's it. I'll continue to monitor it but it must have happened when I was changing bulbs.

Hey Jon... nice job on the quick diagnosis.  A dealer or other tech would have charged much more than the cost of a COG membership to fix that.  Kinda goes to show the wonders of COG.

There is more to be gained by members raising hands saying "I'll do that" instead of pointing fingers saying "nobody's doing that."

(But thanks, Steve.  This is one of those ridiculously easy ones that pops up from time to time.)

I think that fuse also does the radiator fan motor so if it blows again or even if it does not check the blower fan operation.

Reviving an old post.
Yesterday I replaced a rear turn signal bulb. It went out on a ride and I got the fast blinking turn signal indicator Replaced bulb all fine and good.
Today I noticed when I started the bike the clock was at 1:00, with bike running I set it to correct time. Didn't turn the bike off and on the road it went back to 1:00.
Will check fuses but the going back to 1:00 while running sounds weird.

All fuses checked good. The clock is at the right time, 4 hours after I shut the bike down, so I'm thinking gremlins.

So weird that it coincided with the rear turn signal bulb replacement.
