Clutch limiter safety recall
« on: September 21, 2019, 07:08:41 pm »
Was having my tires installed at the local Kawasaki dealer when I was informed that there was a safety recall on the clutch limiter and that it would be taken care of for free. I did not find other post about this and I know most of us do our own work so it might be worth checking into. On a side note the Job comes with a free oil change to bad I had just did mine.

That’s all it says on the paperwork. My best guess would be the “star springs”  were replaced.  I read about that being a problem on the 99

Is this for a C-10 or C-14? It's hard to see the company replacing something on a C-10
12 years after they stopped making them, but who knows.

Gawd - that was "100 years" ago.

Unfortunately, the bum parts did work their way back into the parts system and the issue resurfaced for several years after that.

See the first paragraph on Page 3 of the below recall notice. If the work had been done previously by Kawasaki or a dealer, perhaps they did the repair and marked the engine case like they were supposed to. Kaw did a slew of them in warehouses where the bikes had been put on hold until they came up with a fix for the problem.

Owner repairs were probably done without any markings.
