Title: Custom paint
Post by: Erestyl on October 02, 2017, 07:23:25 am
I was noodling around with GIMP and found a paint scheme I really like:

I don't even have a C10 yet, but I'm looking for one and I've always been a dreamer. I may never do this, but if I did, how much might it cost? I think I could use parts off of a 2000 C10 for the red ones, although it might be cheaper to paint them, I don't know. Also, does this red look better on the top or the bottom? EDIT: A lot of people really like this one too: https://imgur.com/a/3bQLd (https://imgur.com/a/3bQLd)

Two tone needs to follow the body lines more and less of the panel parting lines, this would make it look more purposefully done. Maybe bring the red on to the tank in the knee indent area and accent that body line with a pinstripe. Like it is I got to agree with fish and I have one of those eBay repaired C-10s I call it my Calico bike LOL.

It's all personal preference, of course, but personally I don't care for the two tone custom look. I do like the side bags "smoothed" and painted to match however.
There are so many nice used ones out there it shouldn't be hard to find one but if you have a favorite color/year that always makes the search a bit tougher.

I agree with Grant, if you go with a two tone, paint the knee recess on the tank to flow the color.

And yea, I also have a two tone bike, mines Black'nBlue, a blue '01 with a black fairing.

A couple of mine. A scheme I developed for the red bike in 2007. And then the current, Ultimate Turbo bike.

Thanks. I really liked that one too.  THat was the plastic off my 86 bike, but when it broke down and I had an almost rebuilt 98 ready to go, I stole the 86 body and stuck on the 98.  So this bike is the 98 and it was sold with that plastic on it.  Later crashed in San Antonio by the new owner.  It was painted with a bunch of scrap colors I had left over mixed together to get enough for the job.  I was in seminary and without work when painted.  It came out pretty nice for a super cheapo deal.
