Gauge cluster inner dash interchangablility
« on: June 16, 2013, 11:38:53 pm »
I have located some parts bikes that may be able to be used to turn the "Broken Pony" back to just the "Pony".  The question is, what does it take (if its possible) to put a 97 main fairing along with the 97 inner dash and gauge cluster on an 86?  I am figuring I would need to get the main fairing stay from the 97, install it on the 86, and then install the entire 97 main fairing inner and outer on the fairing stay?  Is it that simple?  What about the compatability between the wiring for the 97 and the 86?

I'm getting the feeling I am being to lofty trying to get an upgraded dash out of this repair....... ???

I tossed the idea around for a while a couple years ago. Bought the stay just in case I decide to do it someday. Rev Ryder had chimed in and let me know it would not be as easy as plug-n-play and would require a bit of electrical work. Not sure what needs to be done I just know it will most likely turn into a committed project.
