Longest single ride on C10
« on: July 30, 2017, 02:10:58 pm »
So, what's your longest single ride on a C10.... I suppose that's a pretty open definition... I'd define it as the start  of the ride until you stopped to sleep. I did a 1,500 mile ride on a shadow 650 a long time ago.

So far on the c10 I think about 800 miles is my longest ride. But I'm planning a couple thousand mile days in September if the weather cooperates.

I know some c10s have been in the iron butt rally, so there's probably some pretty impressive rides out there on them.

Certainly not any kind of a record except personal, but 1030 in under 16 hours and I was into my 70s at the time. Love my C10.

I did my iron butt ss1000 on my 06. The Connie is way more comfortable than my wing. Love the Russell day long seat.

That's a good time for a thousand miles. No disrespect intended here, but it's a really good time at that age.

Hehehe... lots of Iron Butt types here.

I remember I did a SS1000 on my C10 and it was a long day. Started in Ennis MT that morning and checked into a hotel in somewhere south central Minnesota that night. I was beat! All pretty much I90. I could have kept going, but the humidity was really beating me up.    :truce:

Now, if you want to talk about how far in a single vacation, I'm sure you'll find a lot of examples there too. I did just short of 9000 miles during the "Mother Of All Bike Trips" back in 98 or 99. Took three or four weeks. Spent some time in WA state, Canada, Wisconsin. Good stuff.

My worst long distance ride was when the Autotrain was cancelled due  to a hurricane passing through flooding the tracks.
I had to leave at noon and ride 850 miles though flooded roads  and torrential rain all the way home and I made it by  midnight.
In Georgia  a bridge had to be closed and I just made it past  when they closed the bridge.
It was a strange sight seeing coffins floating down the river as a nearby graveyard was underwater. That was on my 2000.
I have done much longer rides but that one I remember well.

Rode straight back from 2014 Nationals in one day.

Johnson City, TN to Milwaukee, WI
Tracked with Spotwalla - approximately 729 miles
Departure - 6am, Arrival - 6:03pm

--
I had a lot of fun with a driver going around Cincy.  He would let me in the left lane in front of him if traffic in the middle slowed.  Then I would go back to the middle lane.  He wouldn't zoom past me or flash lights.  When I finally turned northward we did a hand wave and split up.

I also stopped for gas then north of Cincy where a driver looking for directions asked me about going back to Chicago. I said, 'follow me!' and we left the station.  Followed me until he recognized I-74 North.

Longest one was around 1030 miles on the map (1050 on odometer). East Peoria IL to Gillette WY.  Wasn't as hard as I expected it to be.

Yup. These guys are serious

I did 500 miles from the edge of NM into Dallas, TX. Took 12 hrs and I was exhausted. Not sure how I could have shaved any time either, their highways are fast! Last summer was 600+ miles back from DC to Vermont in one shot. Also completely spent..

Angle Inlet Minnesota to Key West Florida 2426 miles.  I did take a little break in Paducah Kentucky but it was done in less than 48 hours.

Awesome. Slick idea, northernmost to southernmost.

On TDY at South Beach Campground south of Forks WA. Leaving tomorrow for somewhere on the Oregon coast
