More NOOB questions
« on: August 19, 2017, 12:41:14 am »
Just got my 86 back from the shop and have a few things to fix.
I noticed the battery is sitting in a box, but there is no hold down. Is there supposed to be one and what does it look like?
I need to replace my air filter, I know a K+N would probably be best, but not ready to spend the $$ for one. what is a good alternative?

K&N filters are not the choice of the big dawgs around here.  Stock foam is fine.  Be careful not to over oil.  As far as the battery hold down, Mine was missing as well and I just haven't been too concerned about it.  Look on one of the parts sites or ebay to see what they look like.

Thanks.
My filter needs to be replaced (the foam is a little rough). I've seen replacements on Ebay, but not sure which would be a good replacement.

I've had a Uni in mine for for almost 6 years.
No complaints. Cleans easily. Seems to do the
job and is durable.

Thanks for the help! I'll get one ordered. Is the tool tray the battery hold down?

As I recall, yes. But only if you have the stock sized battery.

I rode my C10 for several years before I picked up a tray on Ebay. Never saw anything to concern myself about. May not be the best situation, but probably no big deal.

and welcome :great:

I just took a Uni air filter out that was there when I bought the bike. It is too long and warped the airbox door. I made a new seal from 3/16" neoprene foam so it would seal since the stock seal was shot.

Just add some dense form between the tool tray and battery if there is a gap.  That will also help prevent you tool tray from cracking.
