Neutral Switch - Part Number change
« on: February 28, 2015, 09:46:35 pm »
Good afternoon COG Brethren.

I am trying to determine if the Neutral Switch from a 1995 and later C10 (part# 13151-1080) will work in place of the now obsolete switch for the 1994 and earlier C10s (part # 13151-1007)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Although I can't answer the question, snowbound curiosity got the best of me and I confirmed your part #'s on partzilla. And got the same conclusion: yes the older # is "obsolete". However nothing else in the pre- and post- '94 blowup illustrations under "front bevel gear" seems to have changed.

Could be a new design for a durability issue? Anyway, looks like 12 bucks including shipping.. roll the dice?

Thanks Thud.

I was thinking the same thing.  Hoping the newer part number is just an update on the original....my main worry is if the threading is different.  Hoping someone who has past experience replacing the switch would be able to confirm the fitment will work.

If the newer switch does not work, I would rather look for a good used older version right from the start.  Like you noted, thankfully the cost is not too bad.

Thanks for any additional feedback.

Don't think the thread is different...if it is, they would have different part numbers for whatever it screws into...and, they would have to note them as being different...  My money is on an improved piece that fits where the original one did...

Good luck!

Update: received the newer version of the switch and as predicted, it appears identical to the older version and works great.  Just wanted to post this in case someone else did a search in the future.

Thanks everyone for the feedback.
