New member in Iowa
« on: February 27, 2018, 11:48:14 am »
Hi. New member in Davenport Iowa. Just bought an 03, red, 21,000 miles. Looks spotless. Seems well taken care of. I rode it and didn't notice any issues. It will be my 3rd bike currently owned (I have owned probably 30 or 40). I have a cruiser (V-Star 650), a little dual sport (Yamaha TW200) and now this. I like having a bike for different types of riding. I don't know how it happened, but I picked  this up for $1300.00. ($1500.00 OBO) Bone stock, nothing changed or molested. Even if I use it for the occasional overnighter, I think I will get my money's worth out of it. Happy.

Welcome aboard. Watch the COG calendar for upcoming events. There are always a few just north and west of you. You have great riding in your area.

Welcome aboard.  I grew up in Clinton so I know there's some good riding closer to the river :)  Enjoy the new bike.  Sounds like a trip to Poopy's is in order soon.

I love the ride to Poopy's on the Illinois side. North to Dubuque or south to Burlington on the Iowa side is nice. Twisty in spots, hills, etc. Iowa is only 80% flat with corn, not 100%...

Welcome aboard.

I would advise going to this site and catch some maintenance videos and especially learn about hydrolock prevention.

Just modifying Jeff's comment a bit.  :-)

Hey Mike,

I also choose to lead a ride down to Galena, Il by way of the Great River Road on the Iowa side and back the next day on the Illinois side.

Look for this entry in the COG Calendar of Events:
Sep 15+    Sat       Weekend Ride to Savanna/Galena [WI, IL, IA]    North Central
