Paint code for my 1995 red bike
« on: May 04, 2018, 09:06:36 pm »
As above, I'm trying to find a rattle/spray can for my A9 GTR1000, UK bike.
I cannot find anyone who lists this colour to buy 'off the shelf' here in England, so looking at getting a can made, but as you would expect this will be expensive!
My bike is burgundy/dark red metallic, I've repaired a hole in the fuel tank down by the left hand seam, I have also coated the inside with POR15 tank sealer.
Now I need to tidy things up! I will mask off the lower part of the tank and paint gloss black if needed, but I'd rather find a can of matching colour  ;D
Any help with finding paint here in the UK much appreciated, thanks everyone  :beerchug:

I don't know if they will ship to the UK, but Colorite sells spray cans of the 1995 red.

Thanks Brian, don't think they allow spray cans on planes any more, but I've sent an enquiry all the same  :beerchug:
I'll also see if anyone here can cross ref. the paint numbers, otherwise I'll paint the damaged area in satin black, it will run into the seat area so would look half tidy!

A quality auto body supply company should be able to, they did for my 2001 Blue, shoot a picture of it and formulate the recipe an mix what ever quantity you need. This particular store can mix it in in a can for use with an air sprayer, put it in a spray can or for use with a paint bomb; glass bowl with an aerosol attachment, closer to an air sprayer than a can.

Hi again, thanks for he replies  ;D
I've found out that its still available from an online Kwak dealer, they show you the parts listings and you order away...and they do paint!
Now at first I thought I'd got a great result, until I saw the prices  :-\
P5 Luminous Vintage Red is what I need, this is a Candy paint, which needs special primer, paint and lacquer, 400ml spray cans will cost about £55 with P&P etc.
I could go for 25ml touch up tins, and use my airbrushes (I'm a mad model builder as well!) but even they cost over £30...
Looks like the Gloss Black aerosol for £5 is the way to go... :o
