Plastic swap
« on: June 25, 2018, 09:17:11 am »
I have a silver ‘02 and have access to plastic from a red ‘91...if my memory serves me correctly, I can pull the silver outer plastic that I have (leaving all of the trim panels underneath...including instruments) and replace it with the older, red plastic...can’t I?

Oh yeah...the red one is a California model...what should I do with the extra hose spigots on the fuel tank?

Is there anything else I need to be aware of?

Thanks

Yes, the plastic will interchange. Several options for the 3 lines at the back of the tank. Plug the far left and run drain hoses for the other 2 or just loop a hose between the 2 emissions tubes. I had fuel tank venting issues with the loop (fuel cap vent was clogged) so I plugged the left and rain drain hoses for the other 2.

What year did the front fairing frame change, I think it was after 1991? I believe it was the year when the speedo cluster layout changed.
So, can any year plastics fit both the older and newer front fairing frame?

Bob_C_CT,

in '94 the innards changed...the fairing mount was modified to accept the new pieces...as long as you keep the innards that fit what you have, the outer pieces will fit all years...I think...

Pbfoot,

Thanks!
