rear carrier / back rest cap screw size
« on: February 06, 2018, 05:35:14 pm »
On the optional backrest with the attached carrier there are two longer cap screws that pass through one aluminum piece , thread into the second, passing through it all with an acorn nut to hold the bottom piece snug. I've boogered up the threads and need to buy replacements. Does anyone know the size and threads?

Thanks in advance!

8mm looks too big. I have mine in hand and will measure them when I get to work. 2 hours.

1/4-20 ×1" and 1/4-20 × 1.5"

That sounds about right. I know for sure they were not metric fasteners.

They are. Measured with calipers and a pitch gauge. What I do for a living

You are very welcome. You might want to buy a cheap tap and clean up the threads in the bracket.

Is this the original rear rack that Kawasaki sold?

Does anybody know how much it cost?

If so I have one for sale.

PM me if interested.

PB, I can't see a picture of the part you posted?

If it is like to original beck rest/rack, it is a heck of a good price.
(I think the original cost a lot more, and was no longer available)?

It is an oem backrest.  Yes it is a great price. I paid $130 in 2013.

I have a rear rack that is missing the mounting brackets.  No good to me, so if it helps anyone else PM me.  I'll send it to anyone for the cost of shipping.  I think it's modified with a larger base.
