Replacement Oil Cooler now needed ASAP!
« on: May 05, 2018, 03:51:58 pm »
As above: Just finishing my 1995 Gtr1000/ concours engine rebuild, and found a totally rotten oil cooler  :o
Just the same as my old 900R Ninja went, the alloy female lugs have corroded and split, and half of the cooling fins are missing. I need a good used one, cannot pay £360 for a new one right now, so looking for alternative used part.
All the Gtr1000 are the same part number, I did think 900R ones are the same but the part numbers are different.
Gtr1000 is 39061 1117, 900R/Ninja is 39061 1058
Does anyone know of an alternative, maybe from a newer model, that fits: I can deal with modifying one, maybe change the oil lines, now really stuck as the bike is running and ready for the summer  :-[
Thanks in advance, I know you guys will have a solution!

Pretty common place on these coolers to have the inlet/outlet threaded bung split, seen a lot of them do it...

Contact this fellow, ha may be able to supply you one....

I'll contact Boomer again, see what he's got  ;D
I can get a brand new one for £285, but that's my last resort  :truce:

I have a sightly bent one that seems to still work fine, you can have it for free?

I bought a good low mileage oil cooler on E bay last fall - it was reasonably priced (can't remember how much it cost but it was reasonable)

VTconnie: I'm in England, if you are willing to ship to me I'll pay you, as its listed as a free used gift, I shouldn't have to pay import duty, Vat and delivery (Customs own extra fee!)
If you can help let me know: please don't feel like you must send, I know it takes up a bit of time  :great:

Greenie: My default answer is always eBay...but no-one has one right now. I think the problem is road salt/winter riding, as the cooler is bang in the firing line for spray off the wheel, and the alloy fins and the 'female' section of both oil pipe mountings are falling apart  :(

There are at least 40 oil coolers for the C-10 on ebay right now - and I just checked the first two pages.

Not on UK ebay.....If I buy from the USA, that's if the sellers even ship to England, I have to pay another 20% Vat, import duty and delivery charge from Customs wherever it is, to me

Found a few on eBay USA, only one C-10 so I tried ZG1000.....there they are!
Got a couple of options, at good prices, just need to get the GSP thing sorted (Global Shipping Program)  :o
One seller has 3 prices, from $11 to $50, all with roughly the same timescale for delivery, in fact the cheapest is fastest! It says the fees are all taken 'up front', but last time I used this GSP I still had to pay the vat etc. after the part arrived in the UK, has anyone any clue how it works?  :rotflmao:

Try the GCE site in Eu.
Several of the folks there ride C-10's...
I think they mostly contact on Facebook.

It's odd that ebay sellers in China can ship their stuff to the USA addresses so easily. Being an American I take a lot for granted. Canada has import hurdles too.....
A COG member 15 years ago or so had his order shipped to me in Maine where he picked it up, installed it and rode back into Canada.

Hi again: I've bought a perfect looking cooler from a bike breaker in the USA, only cost me $50 with shipping, so the ripoff charges won't be too bad! Still don't understand why we have to pay Vat on imported used parts, but hey ho...hopefully something will be sorted out once we leave the EU  :-\

Oil cooler now in my grubby little hands, its perfect. Bought from ebay seller "themotoguys"
Cost me £30 all in, and it arrived pretty quickly...then the UK robbing bastards aka Customs and Exise striped me for another £14  :38:
Still was a great deal because of the low sale price, I'm very happy! They are impossible to find here, as years of riding on 'gritted' roads has dissolved the alloy cooling fins, and the hose connectors.
Just giving it a bit of cosmetic work and it will be fitted ASAP... ;D

You guys have a lot of taxes to pay. Like a tax to watch free TV in your home!! Is that still a thing? I bet most americans don't know that.

I guess that's why you get free lifetime medical and extended paid vacation.

Still don't understand why we have to pay Vat on imported used parts, but hey ho...hopefully something will be sorted out once we leave the EU  :-\
