Smashed into a Deer Halloween morning....Trick or Treat!
« on: November 01, 2017, 06:28:04 pm »
It was dark & maybe I blinked, but I never saw the thing:o
REALLY big thud but I didn't go down, she's quite the tank, turned around to see what it was, but it was gone, luckily I found my front fender though.  :??:
I'm glad my reluctance to wash and baby this bike is really paying off!
Examine the pics and tell me what the resale value is now.  >:D
Ironically I turned 154K on the way home yesterday.

Yeesh, not pretty. All fixable though -- Murph can hook you up with new brackets for the bar (assuming the motor mount wasn't cracked...) and you can plastic weld the plastic, it's just ABS. Headlight might be pricey though, never priced that out...

is this an 03? I know where a good 03 fairing is, and I think I have a headlight around here if you want it. Steve

Steve, if you have a headlight that would be great. As my daily commuter heading into winter, fixing the headlight is rather important.  ;D
Yes, it's an 03.
I just plan on replacing the fender for now.

Glad you survived.

Stencil on the image of a deer on the side for a score.

That counts as a close call for sure.  :o

Mark, you want me to ride out, track that thing down and finish the job? Maybe make some grips out of the hooves? A nice fur seat cover? Maybe cut its liver out and take a big ole bite out of it to become one with it............Ok, well maybe not that but I could put some hurt on it.

Thanks Dave, I thought maybe you'd do some over the horizon radar guided heat seeking missiles or something. Save ya the trip out here. :rotflmao:
I still remember the post on here years ago when the guy woke up in the hospital many months later after hitting a deer.
He was so bad they almost took him off life support!  :o

Yeah I got some big medicine in the gun cabinet that has worked well for me in the past. Glad you are ok, I hit a deer in a car, can't imagine doing it on a bike.

Good job of staying on top of the bike, and good luck with the repairs.

Happy to hear you made it out with no more damage than you received!   :great:

Got your text, but we were around Tellico Plains with pretty bad connectivity.  Be safe brother.

Mark, I have some parts, two fairings, and some others. But they may require some attention. But the cost is right. Come get them.

Bob, I'm really just looking for the front fender for a quick partial fix due to recent events.

Did you call about this fender?
http://forum.cog-online.org/emporium/c-10-parts-misc-yard-sale/msg619195/#msg619195
Nah Rich, got laid off on the 13th and won't be commuting on her anymore.  :-\
A guy PM'd me on 11/2 with a freebie (just pay shipping) but never heard anymore.....I hate that, seems to be more common on this forum than it used to be.  ::)

I have the front fender off my 2005. Has a couple of scuffs and one small gouge. I had it for sale, but couldn't keep up with all the requests in the bidding war... actually, no interest whatsoever.
Here's the link so you can see what it looks like:
http://forum.cog-online.org/c-10-emporium/front-fender-69891/msg586865/#msg586865

If you're up to filling in the defects and painting it, and want it, it's yours for shipping. Let me know.

Bummer about the layoff thing....  at least you get 6 months of unemployment.... then it sux bigtime....
I know the feeling... after 3 years, and draining my savings and retirement, luckily I'm at that special age where I can get my money back from Social Security...
Which feels kinda good since I busted my butt for sooooo many years "filling up" that funding program..
Best of luck,

And sorry to hear about the layoff.
Second time that happened to me at Boeing decided a year later to put in for early retirement.
Started another (short) career and it paid off.
