What do these things do?
« on: February 01, 2018, 11:39:36 pm »
In the course of disassembling my new bike, I am wondering what these things are for.  Pics below.
1)There's a clear plastic tube under the gas tank that isn't connected to anything on the rear end.  I haven't dug for the front end.
2) Two electrical connectors up front under the cowl.
3) Two electrical connectors under the seat.
4) A little bent black bracket.  Just fell out of the plastics as I was disassembling.

Thanks all.

Pics....???

2 & 3 are likely the auxillary 12V connectors.

1 could be a float bowl vent hose - should be 2 of them.

4 ?????

Maybe you shouldn't be taking it apart? Some of those things are important.

1. Drip tube in case float assembly inside tank starts to leak.
4. either 92015C or 11048. Brackets to connect inner cowling to outer.

I agree. Taking my new to me bike apart too. One of the float bowl vent tubes was missing.

#4 - I’m Guessing is the tie that runs between the fairing halves.

I'm guessing number 4 is the tiny bracket that fits between the fairing stay and some of the interior plastics.  But you are correct that the tie between the 2 sidefairings is also a crooked piece, just much longer.   :)

Kinda harsh, don't you think? I'm not sure how you learned how to wrench but for me, it was by tackling it head without fear. I also learned from many mistakes despite having a shop manual. I've never even ridden a Connie but I have 3 in the garage that I'm restoring. Thanks to a shop manual and this forum I've learned a few things along the way.

Maybe he just forgot the smiley face.   :beerchug:
Now for me, I probably shouldn't be permitted tools around anything that is actually stock and functioning.  I have a real disassembly problem.  I took the carbs off my C-10 in 2009 and they've never got put back on.   ;)

I am pretty sure fuel injection replaced his carbs!!! NOTE: he said he shouldn't be allowed near anything stock and in good working order.  :))

Sounds like it could be one of the vent line's for the carbs.

2) Two electrical connectors up front under the cowl.
Accessory leads for any accessories you want to add.

3) Two electrical connectors under the seat.
I think these are 2 more Accessory leads for any accessories you want to add.

Ride safe, Ted

Thanks Ted!  I'm not sure what got into that other guy's craw.  Of course I'll keep doing what I can to the bike.  I'm not disassembling it per se, but the gas tank is off, and from what I gather in here that tiny task is more than some are willing to brave...

She's waiting on some oxalic acid to arrive so I can treat the rust in the tank, and then I think I may take her on a 70-miler to the airport on Friday.  Not looking forward to the 70-miler back Sunday night, but Oh well.
