Who's doing j-box rebuilds anymore?
« on: July 11, 2017, 06:35:54 pm »
Is Larry still the go to guy, or what's the scoop?

The 02 needs it...if there are others out there who enjoyed the soldering, I'm happy to pay! lmk

Larry, I'm sending in mine today as well. Must be this heat wave taking out C-10 JBoxes.

The main relay failed twice on my short ride home yesterday. Engine shut off, only had turn signals. I turned the key to off and gave her a whack on the left side where the JBox is. Was able to start back up and get home.

gave her a whack on the left side
That's a technical term.

 :D

Oddly enough, the 2002 that I'm getting this done on also is in the same range of mileage...48k for me. Wonder if they had a bad batch in some of the years. Not overly hot here, but I happened to notice that it didnt start one day, gave the box a knock and I was on my way. Better safe than sorry.

If it hasn't had the solder re-flowed it is a matter of when it will fail and not if it will fail.
This is a good preventative activity to do.

When I bought my new to me C10 it came with a stack of receipts, one of which was for a new Jbox from Ma Kawi. So I had mine reflowed before this new one had a chance to fail while I may of been a long way from home.

Don't let anyone besides Larry Buck touch it -- for the money it's a great service!!!  I had mine done last year and haven't had any other issues.  75K total on the bike now, about 10k since I had Larry fix it since it was DYING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS -- not a great feeling, let me tell you!!!

That's what that is? Ok, I've done this about four times now. Time for a call to Larry.
