Windshield/fairing nuts
« on: September 17, 2017, 12:28:32 pm »
I am reassembling a '87 C10 and ordered the hardware from Murphs and didn't get the nuts. The nuts are knurled on the outside  with a M5 x .8 thread in the middle. I decided to make some but didnt have plastic to make them with. But I did have brass. Another obstacle i had was that the originals had a straight knurl and I only have diamond knurl. The straight is better for this application, but rather than wait on new knurls, I used the diamond knurl. I figured if I was going to wait for knurls, I could just order the nuts. I chose the fastest thing for me, and I get make something. So here is what I came up with, and I included an original for comparison.

Awesome but now you will get flooded with requests to make some for everyone...  >:(

Murph only carries the '94 up style, the ones for your '87 are different.
Smart people look like crazy people to stupid people.
