ZG1000 floating tires
« on: July 20, 2018, 01:09:09 pm »
I just replaced my front and rear tires with Shinko 011 Verge tires.  They reviewed well.  I've now got about 400 miles on them.  From day one, I've felt the "floating" or riding on water feeling over 90kmh.  I first thought it was just break-in but I would expect it gone by now.  Tire pressure is 41 psi per mfg recommendations and tires are balanced.    Even my partner notices me sliding back and forth a little while riding behind me.  Not a comfortable feeling.  I've heard this from other riders even with more expensive tires.  Feels like my tires are under-inflated.
Should I try more air, less air, change dampening on suspension, or does this bike tend to float ??  Maybe these tires have softer sidewalls ?  I just bought it 2 months ago so not much experience with the bike.   My last bike had a different model of Shenko's and no issue.

New tires sometimes exaggerate other problems that didn't show with the previous tires.

Check out this post and Dan Bergmens list of things to check.

Mine was a broken lower engine mount bolt that made it feel like I was riding on ball bearings, especially at speed and exaggerated even more when in turbulent air from a tractor trailer.

My thought is the 150/80ZR16 Verge is not the best tire out there for the Concours...
