86 Mirror Droop
« on: January 30, 2009, 01:06:00 am »
I have a great 86 GTR 1000 that suffers from chronic mirror "droop". I have tried to fix based on tech hints from COG articles, etc. but it seems the right one (facing bike) eventually works loose. It is frustrating on an otherwise great machine from the 80's. Is there any GTR 1000 rider who has had a real breakthru in terms of permanent fixes? Are the newer mirrors on the GTR less prone to the infamous droop and can they be retrofitted? Many thanks.     Mark in Tucson

So you were able to get into the boot and tighten the 10mm nut that tightens the ball and socket pivot point of the mirror?  Actually I don't know if the 86 is different or not.  On the ones I have tightened I cut the boot at the bottom, remove the plastic cap over 10mm nut and tighten slow till it stops wanting to droop.  If your adjustment like this is not working then it might be broken or just wore out.  It might require a replacement if so.  ----------------------------------  South Central Area Director  Email scad@cog-online.org    <p align="left">My Photos<br
