Almost
« on: August 22, 2016, 03:39:40 am »
Putting the wheels back on the C10 today after having new tires installed.  I've done the front, the bike is on the center stand and I'm installing the final drive.  As I'm pushing the final drive into place I see the center stand start to rise and move forward.  I slowly removed pressure from the final drive as I wet myself.  A few minutes of deep slow breaths and then took a ratchet strap from the front wheel to the center stand to hold it in place while I reinstalled the final drive and rear tire.  WHEW! I'm betting more than a couple folks have lost them this way.  Dumb luck that I didn't.
Each time I finish a ride, I'm thinking about the next time I'll get to ride.

Only time I ever dropped my C10 in 80K miles was somewhat similar.

While getting ready to change tires ran rear tire up on 2x4. Placed a 2x6 cross ways to be under the center stand. When I lifted onto center stand the 2x6 twisted and unbeknownst to me was not under the right hand foot of center stand. Connie went to sleep on the right side and I just stood there helpless to stop it. Broke the right footpeg bracket too....... The memories :( ;D

Totally unrelated but may make you feel better.  When I first started in COG years ago a guy posted pics of his new to him Concours.  He was so afraid to drive it that he rented a truck to hall it home.  What he failed to realize was what kind of driver you have to be to drive that bike up that narrow ramp into a to large rental Uhall.  He got it just almost to the top and lost it.  He got out of the way somehow but the bike was fully upside down next to the ramp with a lot of plastic damaged.
