Title: Got so lucky with a parking lot drop.
Post by: Wes on March 20, 2017, 06:36:06 pm
So I "get" to join CCDA. This weekend rode with my girlfriend to movie and dinner. Parked in a parking space at the movies. It was on a slight angle but I don't know if that made a difference. She hopped off so I could park, kicked the stand down and leaned it over...just kept going. The kickstand never locked out and the bike went down. I knew it was going down and tried to ease it as much as possible. Only a very minor abrasion low on the fairing. No other scratches or dents. So VERY fortunate. Time for protection.

Good thinking on protection.  :great:  Funny how that thought seems to happen after a movie. Hope you enjoyed the film!

My CDA came when I first got the wireless earbuds. Took a call and sat in my driveway finishing up the convo for a minute or two. Hopped right off the bike. Oh wait - shoulda put down the kick stand! Has been years now - was 100% my fault. You might have had the tilted lot where one section looks level relative to the rest when it's not. Happens. Lucky it's a strong bike! I've never seen one too badly damaged from a parked fall.

There's a hill side in Nashville where it looks like balls roll uphill because the lay of the land makes it look so. I remember that often when parking on pull-offs in the mountains.
