How about 3 in 5 days
« on: July 01, 2012, 04:41:18 am »
I have just made the change I've been heading for since 2008. Sold my Harley (04 FXDXI ) got on a plane to LA the next morning, test drove a 08 concours loved it paid cash. Next morning headed back to Reno up 395. Biggest problem was keeping the speed down to 80, very different from the Harley. Next, a trip to Salt Lake for family reunion and a wedding. Oh S--t zero speed tip over not once but three F---ing times, confidence all but shot ( and I've been riding since '63 ) have to find away to get my feet on the ground not just my toes. I LOVE THIS BIKE, but I don't want to keep banging her up. I'll find a way.

Get a set of crash bars. When I had my 08, I dropped it numerous times. Traded it for a 2010 Wing. The Wing was not what I wanted after all and now have a 2012 C14 with the MCE bathroom bars. Luckily never dropped the 2012 and now with the crash protection, I am not really concerned about the possibility and it makes riding that much more enjoyable.

Sorry about your drop, Billy. But as you've already figured out - you're not alone. Ride safe!

Three in five days just plain sucks, Admbilly.  They're great bikes, but they sure are tall.  You can get a lowering link, but boots with thick soles work well too.  Perhaps some combination of the two would work best?

And so it has now become my sad duty to confirm you as the 411th recipient of the uncoveted Connie Droppers Anonymous Award.  You have yet another tale to share around a Rally campfire.  My sincerest condolences!
