I...did it Friday
« on: April 08, 2012, 03:19:48 am »
I had soldered in a new battery for the front and mounted a new PR3 Thursday, went for a test ride;I must've fried the battery.
So Friday I jacked it up even better than before but as i was TRYING to line up/pry the axle into the fell to the right the windshield took the majority of the load, didn't break but I think broke the up/down mechanism.two parts busted;the mirror mount,I hope its a separate part and a piece above the inst.panel on the right.NO PAINTED PARTS were even scratched!
The bike fell against a infared sauna and a small air compressor.
My brother and I tried to lift it but it wouldn't budge we had to get a THIRD GUY!
I was on the right at the rear grab rail the other guy was trying to lift at the right handlebar and my brother had one of our big rebar hickey prying on the center stand which was dug into the 2x4 I'd had it sitting on...

Wow, that sure sounds like an adventuresome day.  I'm guessing that the battery you were soldering was the tire pressure sensor?  Since all of my experience is with the C10 model, I can't really offer much in the way of advice, other than to mention the obvious - when you have her jacked up, be gentle with that wrench!

Gsun had a windshield issue a few weeks back.  Perhaps you can get some ideas from his thread:,33454.0.html

At any rate, it has now become my sad duty to confirm you as the 393rd recipient of the uncoveted Connie Droppers Anonymous Award.  You have yet another tale to share around a Rally campfire.  My sincerest condolences!
