One place I never wanted to post!
« on: March 06, 2012, 09:24:44 pm »
I dropped her today on level concrete and I wasn't even on the bike. I was in my driveway and had just got off my bike standing with my back to it and the next thing I know she fell on her right side. On her way over something, I think the brake lever caught my jacket and pulled me with her. Lucky for me my head broke my fall. It wasn't near as hard to pick up as I thought it would be,maybe because I was trying to get it up before anyone saw what happened. The only damage to her was a broken saddle bag and a broken right saddle bag bracket.I have extra saddlebags but no brackets. Anyone know the best place to find used brackets?

Wow that's terrible, Chris!  It was pretty windy on the Tampa side of the state today; must have been even worse on the Space Coast.  And to hear that she took you down with her just adds insult to injury.  At least it doesn't sound like you hit anything important and the only damage was to the bike.
 ;)

Was she up on the centerstand when she went over?  Or on the sidestand?  If the latter, you should pump a bit more pressure into the rear shock.  The schrader valve is underneath the right-hand mid cover.  Having 40-50 psi in there will lift the back end and make Connie sit down at a bit more of an angle when on the sidestand.

As to finding a fresh bag and antler, right here in the forum would be my recommendation.  Try going over to the C10 Emporium and post a WTB note:

At any rate, it is with great sorrow that I confirm that you are now officially the 385th recipient of the Connie Dropper Anonymous Award!  You now have another story to tell around a Rally campfire.  My sincerest condolences!

Thanks, it was on the side stand. I'll add some air now.
