saddlebag guards protects front fairing from breaking
« on: October 04, 2012, 11:52:18 am »
Hello all, I will let you guys in on a finding that I just noticed in the past couple of weeks. a few years ago purchased the tip over bars front and back for my 05 connie. I've dropped my bike a couple of times after that and they performed as expected. but after having to uninstall and reinstall them when ever I had to take the plastic off it started to be a pia.( I'm refering to the front tip overs) So one day I decided to leave them off. after a period of no accidents, within the past two weeks had two falls. one was while I was working on the bike and the other while making a turn from a stop on a graveled slightly pitched parking lot. the first fall the bike fell on it's right side,(had the side stand on a 1x2 with the wheel turned to the left). the second fall was on the left side. other than the end of both mirrors, and the saddlebag tip over bars getting rashed a little. there was no other visible damage that was noticable on the bike. so just having the saddle bag tip over bars seems to be good enough protection so far.

I may be tempting the Fates here by saying this but I hope not to have to realize the benefit of installing Murph's tipover bars.

I have already come close to dropping on two occasions, the latest with the Wife on the back while turning around in the driveway.

Thank you for being our test subject!

I installed both front & rear bars on mine, and I feel much better now.  All that plastic stuff is EXPENSIVE!!!
