Well, damn.
« on: July 17, 2016, 10:50:09 pm »
So I'm straddling Bonnie Blue, duck-walking her "bakkards" down the driveway, feathering the front brake ever so gently.  I reach the point close to the street where the driveway slope "breaks" a little more steeply at the end of the driveway.  The back tire drops down the slope as I turn the bars to the right, trying to make the front end point up the street so I can stop, put 'er in gear and head out.  I've done that maneuver many times, but this time I allowed a little too much momentum.  The bike tips a little too far to the left and I can't recover.  My left ankle rolls over like a scared little chihuahua and PLOP.  Down goes the bike, and down goes me, flat on my back.  Two neighbors witness the circus and come running to help me stand it back up.   :-[

I got pretty lucky.  My ankle is just a little sore and the only damage to Bonnie is a scratched mirror and pannier.

Sorry to hear that but I am glad the results weren't worse.  I've envisioned issues with the curb going backwards and we have a fairly steep driveway.  I've decided to turn it around before getting to the curb, I think I'm going to stay with that approach. Best of luck going forward.
Each time I finish a ride, I'm thinking about the next time I'll get to ride.

Sorry about the drop.
With the tag HSVScott - are you perhaps in Hot Springs Village, AR?
Just asking because my dad lives there as well - been there for nearly 20 years or so now.
If so - there are some fantastically fun roads to ride in the area (especially IN the village).
Ride safe(r).

No sir, HSV would be the airport abbreviation for Huntsville, AL.
