So I'm straddling Bonnie Blue, duck-walking her "bakkards" down the driveway, feathering the front brake ever so gently. I reach the point close to the street where the driveway slope "breaks" a little more steeply at the end of the driveway. The back tire drops down the slope as I turn the bars to the right, trying to make the front end point up the street so I can stop, put 'er in gear and head out. I've done that maneuver many times, but this time I allowed a little too much momentum. The bike tips a little too far to the left and I can't recover. My left ankle rolls over like a scared little chihuahua and PLOP. Down goes the bike, and down goes me, flat on my back. Two neighbors witness the circus and come running to help me stand it back up.

I got pretty lucky. My ankle is just a little sore and the only damage to Bonnie is a scratched mirror and pannier.
