Ya ever had that Feeling?
« on: December 25, 2012, 07:12:40 pm »
After riding the better part of a ten hour day of which for the most was rainy. I stopped the a Comfort Inn. Pulling up under the covered check in area, I sat on the bike , removed the helmet , gloves, and rain cover off the tank bag.  Feeling wore out , stepped of the bike and started walking towards the entrance.
Ya ever had that feeling something wasn't right. You stop, turn, and watch in slow motion as you can't react fast enough. Yeah, I didn't get that far. Only a couple of step away, I started to have that "feeling" , and before I can even turn around , I hear the unwelcome sounds of plastic hitting paving stones.  UGH. There lay the 14 on its side like it was taking a nap. Of course,  there was an elderly couple watching from their car . The Gentleman got out and tried helping me as I struggled putting her back upright. The normal procedure wasn't working for me, as my boots were wet and the bike was  lets just say a "little" overloaded with a few "extra pounds" of gear. His wife yelled at him to stop due to his bad back. They went inside got asked the desk clerk to assist. Now there are several folks watching as the clerk, a guest , and myself put back rubber side down.

Quite embarrassing . I guess I should of known my limits and stopped sooner. I would of been more aware. Blah.  Only Gained a few small scratches and a bruised ego. Thanks for reading.   Byrdman

Never underestimate the power of fatigue. :'(   Glad you didn't suffer any more serious damage.

Sorry I've been away from the keyboard for Christmas.

Yes I certainly have had that feeling.  It's not a very good one, and a long day in the rain can bring it on easily.  Glad you didn't get hurt and it sounds as if Connie did ok too and I'm really glad to hear it.  You even got help, which is actually fairly rare.

And so it has now become my sad duty to confirm you as the 434th recipient of the uncoveted Connie Droppers Anonymous Award.  You have another tale to share around a Rally campfire.  My sincerest condolences!
