Zero mph in a WaWa parking lot
« on: August 03, 2009, 11:30:00 am »
Here's mine, three weeks ago today.     Backed out of a parking place at the local WaWa, waiting for a 4-wheeler to pull in. He waved me out, and as I engaged the clutch - right leg down, front wheel pointed left - the rear immediately stepped out from under me due to (as I later discovered) oil and grease from the parking place still on the rear tire.     In absolute slow motion - about 1/4 speed - it toppled to the right, folded the mirror and the add-on "Wing," while the right exhaust pipe commenced to give me a coffee-saucer-sized 2nd degree burn. Picked it up w/o problems since I'd just read an article here about how to do it more-or-less effortlessly, took inventory, and rode off casually and nonchalantly. Stopped half-mile away, out of sight, for a more complete inspection of Lil' Blue and its chastened rider. Slight scuff of the right front lower corner of the bag and the black plastic OEM wing at the bottom of the fairing (both corrected with 2 minutes of 220 grit on an orbital sander) and a white mark on the end of the mirror. Much more damage to the rider.    >>Deep sigh<<<

Paul, CDA0303.    Check the foot pegs very carefully for hairline cracks.  Some have had them break off after a drop.  This can be especially alarming if you are standing on them.  Ouch on the burn!  Greg H from Mass, Connie Droppers Anonymous Awards Dude  COG# 7010,a Tracey  CDA 120 (2.0)  99 Connie "Herrin Christabelle", 05 Ninja 250

while the right exhaust pipe commenced to give me a coffee-saucer-sized 2nd degree burn.  Were you wearing your gear or were you bare legging it?    COG # 8062  AMA # 1084053  ROMA or Scarlet harlot acording to my wife

Nah - it means he hadn't been back for a while. (Five weeks today and there are still two unhealed bits - each about quarter-sized.) Black dress slacks and (yeah, I know it was wrong) loafers. At least they were cotton, not poly, or I'd still be picking many esters out of the wound.     Got back on it today for the first time in five weeks with 12" leather boots. NEVER shorts in 40 years.
