after drilling out the plastic "rivets" on the back.

Separate the board from the housing.

The relays I got from Digikey.   $1.67

Back side.  I also re-soldered every point.  Japanese electronics are notorious for "cold" solder joints in 80's technology..  I used silver bearing solder also..

When it goes back together I just used my soldering iron to re-melt the plastic rivets that hold the housing together.
Took about 1hr total time.

Just passing some info along.. I did this as preventive maintenance.

I learned a long time ago me and soldering don't get along. :-[   "A man has to know his limitations."

That's why I sent mine to Larry Buck!

rk, mind if I put this in the wiki?

I do not mind..
I did not realize that Larry Buck offers this as a service..  for what he charges it is a good deal.
But I am a DIY kind of guy..

Nice job rk970.  I think when I did 3 different J-Boxes (mine and 2  friends)  quite a few years ago  I installed 12 amp digi-key relays,  re-coated the boards with spray on  clear coat  and then sealed the boxes with black RTV.  I forget the rating of the stock relays. I know they were a lot less.
