Formatting your posts with PsuedoHTML codes
« on: March 07, 2009, 11:11:00 am »
Did you know you can use PsudoHTML code to enhance the look of your posts? When editing, the help button to the right of the Smiley button provide some useful info on using some common codes and how to insert PsudoHTML.

With the upgrade to SMF, 'PsudoHTML' is now BBCode, and the help button is now in the menu bar above.

I know y'all said something here in this thread. Unfortunately, I have no idea what it is!   Let me see if I have this straight. I need 88 Gigawatts in order for the flux capacitor to operate, so that time displacing unit (known as the DeLorean) may be able to break the time space continuum.  Actually I have a better idea of what I just said.    :))

When you use bold, quote, img, etc in your post, those are called BBCode. The old COG forum, before we upgraded to SMF, apparently used something called PsudoHTML, which likely would have been a kind of shorthand HTML, but I don't recall exactly what. Either way, the forum software filter through your post and turns all the tags into real, valid, and semantic HTML, which is code your browser reads in order to display the page exactly the way the author meant it to. Yeah, right.

 :))

BBC, or BBCode stands for Bulletin Board Code, and goes back to the early days of the internet, when website were mostly called bulletin boards, ie, places where nerds would go looking for pictures of Deanna Troy's head hacked onto naked women's bodies.

If it was the part about the help button that has you scratching your head, just follow this link: Basic bulletin board codes - Online Manual
