Title: Posting Photos
Post by: gottaride on May 02, 2015, 01:15:13 am
I got's to figure out pic posting. Need a webbased photo storage site right? Tech for dummies...uber dummies. No really.

Note: Split this off from the topic Motorcycle dolley (http://forum.cog-online.org/index.php/topic,57456.0.html) ... WillyP

I use photobucket. It's easy. Drag and drop. When you pick a picture (after uploading it) in your folder there is a list on the right part of the screen under "share links" that you click on the bottom choice which is the link for forums. It is labeled IMG. When you click on it, it says "copied". Then you paste it in the text of your post, not as an attachment. You have to get rid of part of the code as it ends up next to your picture in the post but you will figure that out the first time you post one.

It is this easy.  Follow these steps exactly and there's no code left to delete.  I don't know who originally posted this because I did a cropped screen grab.

That's odd. My pics don't appear like that with the info below each pic. It's always on the right side and has all the other info in the line that I have to delete.

Guys - I didn't have a clue anyone was using these pics. I cleaned out my PhotoBucket and erased these. The thread went silent after I posted them and I figured anyone who wanted them would have saved the images. My bad guys. I'll get them back up just might not be quick.

Gottaride is on the road - but has his laptop with him. I'll see if one of us can post them back up sooner than later.

John - If you see this just email them to me again  :beerchug:

Sometimes information posted here is accessed years later through a search. It really sucks to think you have the answer to your question finally only to find "image not found".

Daves00 - you're welcome :great:

JR - your point is well taken. No more deleting pics that are posted. Got it.

Hadn't considered the long term implications of asking others to post photos. Now I'll definately get a media/photo account somewhere.

WillyP,  would those photos be postable in a thread,  or just a link?

I don't know about the ones under Media, but with Photobucket you display the picture and to the right are various kinds of links. If you click the direct link, it copies it to the computer's clipboard. The go to this forum, click the image button, and paste the link between the image brackets.

Voila, picture in your post.

Same here, copy the code that's labeled 'BBC Embed Code', but it only works in this forum.

Thanks Willy.
Now I'm curious about the different ways photobucket works.  JR's and gsun's descriptions are different than what I'm doing. Right click, copy, paste, done.

Trying that. Didn't work. Right click the pic?

I'm sorry, gsun.  I was being too brief with those words.  No, I'm doing the 6 numbered steps in the screen grab photo I posted above,  but that's a different layout than you described for your photobucket.  I'm wondering why. :(   Could it be a difference in the way we are putting pics into photo bucket?  I only have about 50 photos in my photo bucket and I've dragged & dropped all of them individually, not by groups or albums.  Could that be it?  I have no clue. :(

I don't have that option. Just:email and IM, Direct,HTML and IMG. The only one that works is the IMG. And I still have the garbage to get rid of. It is not in the format that you have. Oh well, back to the original thread.....

Split this off to it's own topic because so many people have issues with this. So, in this thread, info about posting photos is now on topic.

The original topic is here: Motorcycle dolley (http://forum.cog-online.org/index.php?topic=57456.new#new)

I have had some luck posting photos taken with my iPhone. If I take a picture with the phone the file is too big to directly post. But if I take a screen-shot of that same image it has a good chance of being small enough to post.

This is a good option if you're away from a computer and sometimes sending a pic is for help from the side of the road. It's a real pain to use photobucket from the phone.
