29 tears later
« on: November 08, 2017, 01:48:37 am »
So 29 years 1 month ago was the last time my girlfriend [now wife Connie] went for our last ride on my 87 wine berry red concours. it was new off showroom floor a different machine back then the first sport tour bike. We loved dating and going for rides on it. Then it happened my brother one night in August hit a curb totaled the bike and came out blind and brain damaged. I swore never to ride again but the urge never left me. Fast forward 30 years I so happen to be looking through the motorcycles on craigslist something I never did before only to see a 87 wine berry red concours [now called a connie] My heart lept , I phoned my wife and we decide we needed it for our 27 anniversiary. The seller brought it out and when i through my leg over i was 20 again for a brief moment, after 30 years of not riding it all came back as i throttled out of the yard calling for power the feeling came back the excitement the youth . then picking up my wife and slowly going down the road she says to me lets feel it go as I asked for power the Connie beneath me pulled and the one behind me grabbed on tight, oh the memories. For a split second we were 20 carefree wind blowing at us, her squeezing tight and me loving it all.    So that is my story in short form lol            Lance

Glad to hear you are back in the saddle.
Keep an eye on the NW schedule as something will show up as a group ride.

It is great that you are enjoying it again.  Truth is though you still have to make that decision every time you ride.  She does too...  Am I willing to get hurt or die today for this enjoyment and am I and the bike physically and mentally ready to do our best to make sure that does not happen.

Nice Story! Congrats! Some words of wisdom told me many years ago. When you feel safe you are in danger (complacent). When you feel you are in danger you are safe (aware). Be safe and enjoy the ride!
