Another COG Newbie Great Forum Posts!!
« on: January 25, 2020, 07:39:39 pm »
Longtime rider but never had a Kawi Connie. Picked up pristine 2006 C10 with 5,669mi. no worries measured for hydrolock cylinders prior to purchase and bike shop thought I was nuts! There are literally no dents in radiator at all so assuming little or no highway mi, 2 scratches from driveway drop. going over completely thanks to great forum info. Looking forward to any local events (NE area-CT). Already started systems review - see picts have carbs off to send bowls to Steve in FL, just epoxy/fiberglasse the fairing tabs and indicator light screw tabs, and complete fluids. Also picked up original passenger backrest but need groovy embossed blackd vinyl if anyone knows source for this or similar material. Will do the 2MM jeting from Steve and Power grounding. Some worry about fusebox but this garaged bike is not likely to have corrosion yet, I suppose backup is warranted for any multi-state trips? Thanks to all for abundant forum info, pics and welcomes.! Welcome!

My 3rd C-10 purchased in 2017 ... a 2004 C-10 was pristine and had 11K miles on it. The bike probably sat inside with little or no use for years. The bike was bought in November so I had little chance to ride it before taking it to Mexico the following March - untested, unknown, and probably unwise. I did everything I could in the garage, but trying out my work in cold Bangor Maine in the winter was not possible.  The bike did well on the trip. A dose of bad gasoline had me worried and there was a small leak from the final drive case - which with use did seal itself.
Bottom line, my lightly used 15 year old C-10 developed carb problems this past fall. I sent the rack to Steve in Sunny Florida - then in rapid fire the Junction box failed too - both problems occurred with less than 28K miles and a very sheltered life. Things do degrade with the passage of time but it's all good now. These are great bikes - easy to work on and fantastic support with COG and this forum.

Welcome, only got here a few moments ahead of you -- had a C10 (much higher mileage) for a bit, which I enjoy very much, but heard the call of a lower-mileage C14.  Sounds like yours will be better than new before spring gets here.
