Got my C14 today. Finally!
« on: January 19, 2019, 03:26:29 am »
It has been about 13 years since I sold my old 86 Connie, but I told myself I would get another someday if they ever came up with an updated version.  Well, right after I purchased a Valkyrie Interstate, the C14 was introduced.  I had the Valk for several years and it was fun, but ended up selling it because we needed the money.  I went bikeless for about 3 or 4 years and that was not fun.  I bought an old Gold Wing a couple years ago and discovered I needed to get back into riding again, specifically, sport-touring... even more specifically, I needed a new(ish) Concours.  I was finally able to purchase one today!  It's a 2012 with 14k miles and it's like new.  I'm on my Chromebook and I can't post a pic from here right now, but I'll add one in the comments from my phone.  It's great to be "back"!
If you can't fix it, at least break it trying.

Welcome and congratulations on your new bike. I believe I remember you from the VRCC? I also was a Valkyrie rider, had mine 15 years. I also recently purchased a 2012 C14.

Thanks for all the nice responses!  It poured yesterday, so I didn't go anywhere, but it was dry and sunny today (albeit 38 degrees) so I put about 40 miles on it.  What I noticed:  The brakes work.  Really well.  Corners and handles great, of course.  Comfortable overall.  Wind noise, I repeat WIND NOISE (I'm about 6' 3" and I suppose a taller windscreen would help).  This is a sexy bike that looks better in person than it does in pictures.  Mine is a color that you can't really describe, kinda like the C10 "Blurple" bikes... need to make up a name for it.  Heated grips are lifesavers on days like this.  It's very quiet, especially with all the WIND NOISE that completely covers up any engine noise.

I think I'll be getting some Murph's bar risers and at some point a taller windscreen (I assume someone makes them?).  Also... the bad part... my dang rear tire pressure sensor thingy has a dying battery... not good, BUT I did buy from a dealership, so hopefully they'll "make this right."

David:  It's a small world, neighbor, can't wait to ride with you!

Here I am at the Elk River in Northern Alabama this afternoon.

If you can't fix it, at least break it trying.

Congrats on the bike Squatchmo!  Love the color!  I'm just shy of 6' and can tell you
I have the same issue as you have regarding noise when riding my son's C14.  The PO
(COGnosticator) had a clamp on spoiler on the OEM windshield that works amazingly well!
Thanks Jerry!  I don't really care to ride it if that's not mounted.  I'd advise getting one and seeing
if that takes care of it for you.
